This post describes how to create a beautiful Bootstrap autocomplete dropdown menu using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

I will walk you through customization steps to fit just about any design by changing the CSS styles or adding JavaScript functions.

One of my favorite plugins I came across recently is called Choices.js.

It's a lightweight JavaScript plugin that can be used with any popular UI framework, but what really makes this special, is that it works great in combination with Bootstrap 5!

The simple code example in this post has been tested on Windows 8 & Internet Explorer 10, Chrome 25 & 26, Firefox 19, and Safari 6.0.5.

When to use the autocomplete dropdown in web design?

The autocomplete dropdown is a great way to improve your website's usability and help users find what they are looking for. It’s a feature that allows users to search for terms that are similar to what they have typed into the textbox.

The dropdown will then display a list of options based on what was typed in by the user. This allows them to choose an option without having to type out the full word or phrase if it is too long.

This feature is especially useful when you have a lot of content that needs to be displayed on one page but don't want to clutter it up with lots of small boxes and links.

Another advantage is that it helps prevent users from navigating away from the page and returning later just to find what they were looking for.
